Emmaus is a charity founded in 1949 in France to combat poverty and homelessness by priest Abbe Pierre before spreading around the world... it gives people who had been homeless somewhere safe and welcoming to live through being part of a working community geared towards becoming self-sufficient through social enterprise.
Emmaus Defi Riquet is a large 2nd hand shop selling diverse products: garments, books and vinyls, children clothes and toys, furniture, household appliances… It has opened in september 2012 in a former market hall between Metro Riquet and cultural center 104, and it is a good spot for for vintage, and solidary fashion.
You can find almost everything here, but we advise you to come back often, the articles are entirely replenished every week. The shop is only open on Saturdays if you’re a buyer, and it opens also from Tuesday to Friday, (3pm – 6pm) and Saturday all day long if you want to make a donation.
If you didn't find what you were looking for, don't foget to visit also l'Appartement d'Emmaüs in the nearby 104 centre.
